LinkedIn Adds Sharing Functionality, Allowing Users to Share Concise Areas of Content with Colleagues and Professionals.
Previously, LinkedIn alerted your network when you changed job titles or joined a group. Now, you have the option of setting a status or sharing industry related articles or links across your network or to everyone who views your LinkedIn profile, similar to Facebook. Each time you post, you can opt in to automatically share with your Twitter feed as well.
When you share a link, you can customize the article synopsis to highlight a particular quote of interest to your audience. In a world of constant information exchange, the ability to show people on first impression how they can benefit from reading your post is key.
This tool provides an incredible opportunity to position yourself as a knowledge leader. Posting articles that people in your industry will want to read and share, you will grow your network. Make your profile a destination for news and interesting information about your field.
For example:
Stacy works for a staffing agency and finds an article online that will help an HR Director with staffing for an upcoming project. Previously, she would copy the URL of the article and send it out in an email to her contact base. Now, she can post the link with a hand picked excerpt from the article directly to her LinkedIn profile. Not only will she provide valuable tips to particular contacts, she will be demonstrating knowledge in her area of expertise.
Add the Share on LinkedIn bookmarklet to your browser’s toolbar and you are ready to start sharing.
